Our Bible passage today is Psalm 29.
It is a call to everyone and everything to acknowledge the Lord for His glory and power, even the ‘mighty ones’ (v.1) which might be a reference to the angelic host.
Note the repeated mention of the LORD throughout the Psalm, He indeed is the central theme! And therefore it might also be making a point of testimony or protest against other gods.
Note too the inferences of wind, lightning and storm being displays of God’s power in creation, and therefore a reminder that He is there to be worshipped and glorified.
Note too right at the end of the Psalm (v.11) after many descriptions of destructive power, things calm down with promises of strength and peace to God’s people amidst all that is going on, because He is the Lord and He knows who belongs to Himself.
In our prayers today let us remember our 2 other overseas contacts, Fidel, Christine and children in Kenya, and Saw Myint our Crosslinks student in Myanmar.
Fidel recently wrote and asked for prayer for them as a family that they all may continue to grow spiritually, for the ongoing fruit of a recent evangelistic event, and for plans to send out a team to plant a new church in another part of Nairobi.
Let us continue to pray for the situation in Myanmar, no longer on the news, for stability and peace, and for Saw Myint that he may know the Lord’s guidance in the next stage of his life now he has graduated. The Leadership council are meeting tomorrow evening to consider some choices of a new Crosslinks student to support and pray for over the next period of time.
