It is Wednesday today, just letting you know!
Our Bible passage today is Mark Chapter 13, the whole of it, plus Mark Chapter 14 verses 1 to 11. I’ve added this last little section so it takes us to the Thursday in the story, which we can read tomorrow.
Again like yesterday take your time in reading it.
Mark Chapter 13 is a difficult part of the Gospel to understand, and probably not preached from that often, so might be unfamiliar to some of you.
It is probably speaking about different events and different periods of time, and it is not always easy to distinguish between what is what. Here is my best guess/understanding.
– Some of it applies to the near future, what is to happen to the first disciples, and ending up with the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem in AD70.
– Some of it applies in terms of persecution of Christians and global events/disasters to all history from then to now.
– Some of it is speaking about when Jesus comes again.
If you have any questions I hope you know you can always ask.
The first part of Chapter 14 records a lovely act of devotion which then leads us into the final events leading up to the Cross.
In our prayers please continue to pray for our Prime Minister, for those who have lost loved ones, and for a swift end to the coronavirus outbreak and that a vaccine may be developed quickly.
In our own church family please remember today,
– Derek & Joanna.
