It is Saturday, welcome to the weekend.
Our reading today is from Titus Chapter 2 verses 11-15, which is the passage used at Virtually Keswick which inspired me to look at this letter in more detail.
So shamelessly borrowing the main points from that talk(!), the speaker pointed out that we get an all-around 360 degree look at our Christian lives.
So firstly we look back to the fact that Christ has appeared and come to bring salvation to all people (v.11), and died on the cross to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify a people for his own (v.14).
We also look forward and wait for the blessed hope, the glorious appearing/return of the Lord Jesus Christ (v.13), when that purification process will be complete (v.14), and we will no longer be tarnished and held back by the remnants of sin.
And now in this present age, by His grace, He helps us to say “no” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and live self-controlled and godly lives now, today (v.12).
I personally think this is a really useful perspective in helping us to live for Christ today, so I’m putting v.15 into practice!
In our extended church address list let us pray today for those former church members who have been joining us via Zoom during this lockdown period,
