Daily email Number 112 – from the Pastor

A special today as promised with an outline of the message on Sunday.  I did refer to a few Bible passages and made some points that I didn’t put up on the screen so if you are interested here they are:
Sermon: On which side are you?
Text: Luke11:14-28
There is a spiritual battle going on for the souls of human beings.
Ephesians 6:12
“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
 1 John 3:8
“He who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning since the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.
In healing the dumb man Jesus established His authority over the devil and his demons.
The cross appeared to be the victory of the devil over God’s plan to redeem the human race, but the resurrection was the convincing sign, promised by Jesus, of His final and complete victory.
In this spiritual battle we are either still on the devil’s side or we have claimed our salvation and the victory, on Jesus’ side.
Then 4 points:
1. There is a spiritual battle raging with two sides
If people can’t see it, see 2 Corinthians 4:4
“And even if our gospel is veiled (hidden or not seen), it is veiled to those who are perishing.  The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.”
2. Jesus Christ has authority over the devil’s power
The evil spirits obeyed Jesus.
v.20 “If I drive out spirits by the finger of God, then the kingdom of God has come to you.”
3. We are either on Jesus’ side or the devil’s side
v.23  “He who is not with me is against me”
4  The way to be on Jesus’ side is to hear the Word of God and obey it
Watch out for distractions!
v.27  A woman in the crowd called out, “Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you.  Jesus replied, Blessed rather are those who hear the Word of God and obey it”
If Jesus is speaking the truth, He leaves us with one choice: we must accept Him fully or reject Him absolutely  He makes it clear that we are on one side or the other – on which side are you?
