Our reading from the Bible today is Psalm 21.
It is a Psalm of praise for victories granted to the king, and therefore theme-wise it is linked to Psalm 20 which we looked at yesterday.
Verses 2 to 6 look back at past victories, and verse 8 to 12 anticipate future ones and the destroying of the enemies to God’s people.
The key verse is the one in the centre of the Psalm, v.7, ‘For the king trusts in the Lord; through the unfailing of the Most High he will not be shaken.’
Here is the reason for these victories, it is because they have the Lord on their side, and that they as a king and a people are both acknowledging and trusting Him.
And we as NT Christians have the Lord Jesus on our side, and any victories that we have in the Christian life, against sin within or opposition from outside, are because we are acknowledging and trusting Him; and ultimately because He has won the great victory over evil and sin through His death and resurrection.
And so from our church address list, let us pray today for,- Derek & Joanna,- Doreen.
