Daily email Number 262 – from the Vicar

Dear All,
Our Bible passage today is Luke Chapter 17 verses 11 to 19, which are writer entitles, ‘The one out of ten’, referring to the one leper who returned praising God and thanking Jesus.
At the end of his devotional Sinclair Ferguson asks these pointed questions to you and I.
Does a ten per cent rate of thanksgiving shock you? But then, when were you last thankful to Christ, and for what? When did you last fall “at Jesus’ feet, giving him thanks” because of what he has done for you?  Why not spend some time doing that now?

This is a reminder that that the third instalment of the Peterborough DEF Lent Bible School (as below) will be taking place on Zoom from 7.30 to 8.30pm this coming Wednesday, 10th March, with Ed Shaw speaking for about 30 minutes and then answering questions for another 30.  Ed is a pastor at Emmanuel City Centre Church in Bristol, and has personal experience of these issues, and is a very good speaker.

  • Week 3.            Relationships [Ed Shaw, 10th March]

What kind of relationships does God call us to? What can we affirm and what can’t we?

Over 70 people have been watching the talks on Zoom, and there’s room for more, particularly as it’s online.

In our prayers today can you please particularly remember Tina McGowan.  Firstly, her ex-partner Kevin, the father of her son, was taken into hospital yesterday seriously unwell.  Please for those treating him, and for the Lord’s intervention in this. Secondly, her return to the school kitchen at Kings Heath Primary yesterday was not straightforward and very stressful for Tina and the other ladies.  Please pray for the Lord’s peace for Tina at this time.
