Daily email Number 190 – from the Vicar

Our passage from the Bible today is Exodus Chapter 5 verse 22 to Chapter 6 verse 12.
Moses is shaken both by the even harder crackdown that the Israelites now have to face, as well as the verbal opposition from the Israelite foremen.
So he goes back to the Lord and very understandably cries out to Him, Why? and When are You going to act as You said You would? (Ch.5 vs.22-23)
It is a reminder that we don’t have to hold back with the Lord in prayer.  It is okay to be honest and to let Him know how we feel; He knows our hearts anyway!
And so the Lord seeks to reassure Moses (Ch.6 vs.1-8) by restating what will happen to them and Pharaoh, and by revealing a few more details of His plans, both of the escape and also the future.
Moses is trying to trust the Lord, but again he is rebuffed by his fellow Israelites (v.9), and his doubts about Pharaoh resurface (v.12).  We see played out in front of us the battle between faith and doubt as both seek to gain ascendancy in Moses’ heart and mind, which is battle that we all have to face at different times in our lives, perhaps even different times in a day or week.  And so we have to keep going back to the Lord and pray to Him, and listen to Him.
As there is no daily email tomorrow, as a bonus reading you could read Exodus Chapter 6 verses 13 to 27.  It is one of those list of names which are not to easy read, so you could go on the link and click the icon which reads the passage for you!  The list is there to give the family background to Moses and Aaron, and reminds us that they are from the tribe of Levi, one of the sons of Jacob.
From our extended church address list, let us remember in our prayers today those former church members who have been joining us via Zoom during this lockdown period,- Vikkie & Robbie- Champa and family
