Daily email Number 186 – from the Vicar

We continue the story of Moses and God’s people by looking today at Exodus Chapter 3 verses 15 to 22.
Here we have a few more details/stages of the mission which Moses is being sent on, which was briefly introduced back in v.10, that he was being sent to Pharaoh in order to seek permission to bring the Israelites out of Egypt.
Moses is told that he should assemble the elders of Israel, and tell them who had sent him, and what the plans are, and that they would listen to him (vs.15-18).  They did listen at first, but later had their doubts, because their situation became worse.
Then they (Moses and the elders) would go to the king of Egypt and ask permission for a 3 day journey to worship the Lord out in the desert.  He would eventually allow them to do this, but only when he was convinced by the wonders/miracles that the Lord would perform (vs.18-20).  A lot is left unsaid here by the many to-ings and fro-ings as Pharaoh kept changing his mind, as we shall see later.
Finally when they did go and leave Egypt, they would be sent on their way by additional riches given to them by their local neighbours (vs.21-22).
The Lord’s plans sometimes might be detailed, sometimes not; sometimes they might be revealed all at once, sometimes more slowly.  The thing is always that He is trustworthy, and we need to trust Him.  All these things in the plan came to pass, the Lord is in control.

From our church address list, we remember today in prayer,- Azaria (Charlene’s older niece) and Vinny- Roger, Sue and Daniel.  We are very thankful that Daniel has got a new job, starting a week today.
Day off tomorrow, and then taking a day’s holiday on Wednesday, so I will be back on Thursday.  However, feel free to read ahead in the story of Exodus, especially if it is less familiar to you ☺
