Daily email from the Vicar Number 33

Good morning everyone.
Our Bible reading for today is 1 Peter Chapter 5 verses 1 to 7.
The passage begins with some challenging words about being an elder or church leader, and the qualities/attitude that are needed, remembering always that we are under-shepherds accountable to the Chief Shepherd, the Lord Jesus Christ.
And the passage ends with some words for us all, that we need to humble ourselves under God’s mighty hand (v.6), and then one of THE great verses in the whole of Scripture:
‘Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.’ (v.7).  What a verse to carry with us and put into practice in these difficult lockdown days.
We are planning another Zoom service on Sunday morning, 11am, and planning to lead us all in Communion, with a difference.  You need to bring your own bread and wine, or blackcurrant juice or…, but we will try and eat together.  I will send a link in a separate email.
In the Christian Institute week of prayer, they are praying for Society today.
They say please pray:
– For more Christians to speak and act with wisdom and courage in defence of biblical truth;
– That God in his mercy will grant repentance and revival in the UK;
In our church address list, please pray for,
– Lynn & Paul
– Jason & Corette, Pieter & Zarah
Please also pray for the family and friends of Fred Lowe, whose funeral I am taking at Dallington Cemetery this morning (10am).
