Daily email from the Vicar Number 127

Happy Friday.
A bit later than usual today, apologies for that, got sidetracked on some other email correspondence.
Our Bible reading is Titus Chapter 2 verses 1 to 10.
Paul begins by telling Titus that he must teach what is in accord with right doctrine – and by doctrine I take that to mean both believing the right things about God, who is Father, Son and Holy Spirit, but also behaving the right way as well, these things go together.
And then there are specific things to be taught to 5 specific groups, old men (v.2), older women (v.3), younger women (vs.4-5), young men (vs.6-7), and slaves (vs.9-10), which we might legitimately transfer to being an employee today.  All of us should be in at least one of these groups!
Anyway plenty to chew on in here, which would have been very counter-cultural then as it also might seem now.
All might be described as doing good for the sake of the Gospel.
What do you think?  Feel free to engage in the issues.
In our prayers today we remember from our extended church address list,
– Beatrix and family,
– Ellie (Lynn’s daughter) and her husband Lee
