I’m a bit later than usual today, because I’ve been making several phonecalls and then having a virtual Team meeting via Zoom with my Diocesan colleagues.
Rather than sharing various random, although hopefully helpful, Bible passages/verses and thoughts over the last week or so, I thought I’d do something more consecutive for the next few days before returning to the Easter story itself next Sunday, which will be Palm Sunday.
(However, I don’t want to get in the way of any other Bible reading plan/Bible notes that I know a number of you use, so feel free to ignore this part, I won’t be offended, and go straight to the prayers!
However, for those who would like some guidance, I’d thought I’d go to 1 Peter which is one of my favourite New Testament letters, and favourite because it seems to me to have lots of helpful things to say about the ups and downs of life.
So for today read 1 Peter Chapter 1 verses 1-12.
Do especially note that we have a living hope (v.3) because of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, and an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade (v.4), and that through faith we are shielded by God’s power (v.5). ‘Shielded’ being a word that is currently being used today trying to protect vulnerable people from the virus.
As Christians we are not necessarily being shielded from today’s sadness and trials (see verse 6), but rather through faith we are being shielded for the ultimate reward, of heaven and eternity.
Now that is really good news!
Please keep calling out to the Lord for His mercy on us all in these times, and that many would call out to Him for the first time.
In our church address list (here is another extension!) please pray for some of those who have started coming more recently,

Take care, keep safe, and God bless,
